Questions about journaling, understanding and rewards.
Original words, companion perspectives, child portraits, family points and sharing choices.
What is Growly?
Growly is an AI journal for kids and a family growth companion for iOS and Android. Children capture experiences by voice or text, with optional prompts and feedback from companion perspectives. Authorized journals, parent records and saved conversations can contribute to an evolving child portrait. Parents can also enable journal points and family gifts.
What if my child has nothing to write?
Start with one moment, sentence or discovery the child wants to keep. An optional opening prompt can be skipped or replaced. During focused writing, children speak or write for themselves and ask for help when needed. Specific feedback comes after they finish.
Does AI write or rewrite the journal?
The journal keeps the child's own words. Voice input is transcribed, and children can check and edit the text. A companion can explain an idea or offer a perspective or optional method. Feedback is stored separately and does not automatically rewrite the journal.
How do companion perspectives help with reflection?
A companion responds to something specific in the entry: a connection, a detail or an optional way to summarize, express, compare or plan. Parents choose enabled perspectives. Complementary perspectives may contribute to one coherent reply. These are product-designed interpretations, not historical people themselves or a panel of real experts.
How is a child portrait created?
A portrait brings together currently valid, authorized journals, original parent records and saved conversations to describe specific interests, approaches, context and support needs. Relevant saved understanding can inform later guidance. Numerical observations are separate and use eligible journals and parent records; conversations do not add numerical counts.
Is the portrait an ability or personality test?
It organizes everyday observations. It is not a diagnosis, a fixed personality assessment or a developmental ability score. Nine content domains organize the material; an absent domain does not mean an absent ability. New situations and counterexamples can change the current understanding.
Can parents see every journal and portrait?
Journal content and feedback follow the child's sharing choice. Unshared content does not become visible through portraits, chat history or parent summaries. Parent and child portraits use their respective source permissions. Parent records shared with children follow their own sharing settings too.
What happens after editing or withdrawing a source?
When content, revision or permission changes, affected old portraits stop being delivered. A subsequent formal source update rebuilds understanding from the remaining valid, authorized material. Opening or refreshing a portrait does not generate a new report, and its text does not necessarily cover all history.
How do journal points work?
With the relevant family rewards enabled, the first eligible completion for a child on a journal date earns 5 completion points. The first valid writing assessment can add 1–10 points, up to 15 total. Completion credit is settled first; assessment may arrive later. In-app rules and wallet transactions determine eligibility and actual credit.
Do edits or assessment retries earn more points?
Awards use the first eligible receipt for the child and journal date. Editing, supplementing, reassessment or deleting and recreating the journal does not award completion again or repeatedly increase assessment points. Completion credit and later assessment are handled separately if assessment is temporarily unavailable.
What can points be exchanged for?
Families define and fulfil their own gifts, such as a shared craft activity. Children request a redemption using their own wallet; parents manage fulfilment. Points are not cash and gifts are not centrally supplied by Growly. Journal scores, wallet points and the child portrait represent different things.
Who is the journal for?
For primary-school families, consider whether the child can describe an experience independently or with support. Prompts and feedback use the provided age and context; age does not guarantee the same experience for every child. Short entries are welcome, without a word-count target or a required lesson every day.
Does a free download include unlimited AI use?
The app is free to download. AI conversations, voice, media and images have their own availability and usage limits. Current in-app subscription details apply. Family journal points are separate from AI allowances and do not represent model usage.
How do we start the first journal?
Download from the App Store on iOS or use the Android download page. A parent completes the necessary family and child setup, then opens the child's journal. Follow in-app binding instructions when using a child device. Start with one experience and view feedback after finishing.
Can other family members take part?
Parents can invite family members through an invitation link. Each member reads and contributes according to their role and permissions. Family membership does not make an unshared child journal public. Existing invitation links and in-app joining continue to work.
Where can I learn about children's data?
Read our privacy policy for the operator, data collection, third-party AI and voice processing, and privacy contact details. Relevant data is processed when you use those features. Public scenario examples contain no real family identities. In-app permissions and the privacy policy describe account and content access.
